🪲 During finissage event of the exhibition UTOPIC CELLS

Lizard Woman is a self-made professor-e, an enigmatic, lethargically aging provocateur who shifts and evolves between a spectrum of alter egos. Transforming the space of spectacle into dimensional tissue lectures, where her body and voice become visceral instruments to expose and unravel the hidden struggles of power, the hierarchies of normality, and the constraints of reason. Through wit and sharp satire, she navigates serious topics, weaving humor into complex ideas to make them both relatable and riveting.

Each performance is infused with explorations of culture and body politics, creating a space that challenges and engages.

For the closing event of the exhibition UTOPIC CELLS by Donna Huanca, Lizard Woman will dedicate her lecture to the poetic connections between the cellular and the utopian, guiding the audience from reflective observation to an interactive, gentle movement workshop that invites everyone to sense their cells come alive.

Created and performed by artist Laima Jaunzema, Lizard Woman’s peculiar and thought-provoking lectures have captivated audiences locally and internationally

LAIMA JAUNZEMA is a choreographer, her artistic practice is embedded in the research of body politics.

Her artistic interest on discovering the medium of body indelibly is influenced by the silence of one’s own intimacy on the contrary of being exposed to the universal space, displacement of retrospecting gaps in communication and perceptions, and delays of politics to react. Laima engages with interdisciplinary choreography to create places where body perception can be challenged with powerful sensitivity.

Laima graduated from SNDO (School for New Dance Development) in Amsterdam, before having studied dance in Berlin and Denmark. She has furthered her knowledge in “Commissioning and Curating Contemporary Public Art”, HDK Valand Academy in Sweden and “We will dance with mountains” with Bayo Akomolafe. This year she received the prestigious Dance Web scholarship (mentor Isabel Lewis).
