The latest issue of ETC. Magazine, titled Selling Out, addresses the pressing topic of working conditions in the art world and beyond. This is an opportunity to meet the creators of the magazine in an informal atmosphere, get acquainted with the art scenes of Slovenia and the Balkans, learn about the publication’s connection to Latvia and the Baltics, and gain insights into how artists from these regions navigate and respond to contemporary issues. This lecture is relevant not only to artists and art professionals but also to anyone interested in the broader socio-economic issues of our time.

“As a guest curator for ETC. Magazine, I am excited to offer a Baltic perspective on this issue. The Latvian art scene is relatively small, and initiatives like this help to increase its visibility and promote the growth of local art professionals. I think ETC. Magazine is a wonderful example of how a printed art platform can meaningfully create new connections with seemingly distant regions, in this case, between the Baltics and the Balkans. Additionally, the relatively compact format of the publication allows this message to be spread far beyond the borders of these regions.” – Tīna Pētersone

ETC. is a magazine first published in 2022, dedicated to presenting current artistic production from the Baltic to the Balkans, bringing together artists, curators, writers, and publishers in the field of contemporary art. With each issue, the magazine addresses current issues in the fields of society, environment, and art, and is thus designed as a platform for diverse voices and opinions from across Europe, contributing to a broader understanding of specific issues and recontextualising stories that transcend national borders. The aim of the publication is to create a platform for the presentation of current artistic production, and thus to contribute to a better connection between local contemporary art and the international art scene. The international exhibition series is curated by Ajda Ana Kocutar, Lara Mejač and Hana Čeferin, who are joined by guest curator Tīna Pētersone for the third issue of the magazine.
